DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Sun Conference has selected Carleigh Shannon as the first Softball Player of the Week for the 2009 season, announced Monday by the conference office.
Shannon led the bees to a 2-2 record on the week with 10 hits in 17 at-bats, hitting .588. She scored six runs while collecting five RBI. Shannon won the Player of the Week award three times in 2008.
Other nominees include: Alyssa Santos, Northwood; and Gina Guffanti, St. Thomas.
