NORMAN, Okla. - Savannah College of Art and Design men's golfers Colin Kelly and Scott Melton have been named to the Cleveland Golf/Srixon NAIA All-America Scholar team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

A total of 108 players in NCAA Division I, 37 in NCAA Division II and 11 in NAIA earned the honor.  To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA or NAIA Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I or 78.0 in Division II and NAIA, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 in Division I and II and 3.5 in NAIA. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

SCAD was one of only two institutions to have multiple golfers on the NAIA team.  Ohio Dominican University led all schools with three.

Kelly, a senior from Glasgow, Scotland, compiled a 75.46 stroke average in 24.5 rounds of competition for the Bees, who finished the season ranked No. 7 in the NAIA. Kelly was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete this season as he recorded six top-20 finishes in 2008-09, including two top-10 efforts. Kelly fired a season-low 67 in the second round of the Marine Federal Credit Union Intercollegiate Golf Championship in March as he tallied his best finish of the season - a tie for sixth place. Kelly graduated from SCAD with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in furniture design with a 3.55 cumulative grade point average.

Melton, a junior from Ringgold, Ga., had a 75.14 stroke average in 24.5 rounds of play this season for the Bees. Melton, who was also named a Scholar-Athlete by the NAIA, had three top-20 efforts during the season, including two in the top 10. Melton fired a season-best 68 in the second round of the Marine Federal Credit Union tournament.  Melton enjoyed his best finish of the season when he tied for sixth at the 2008 Fire Classic. Melton has a 3.55 cumulative grade point average as an industrial design major.

SCAD earn an at-large berth to the NAIA National Championship this season for the fourth time in the past five years.  The Bees finished in 14th place at the national tournament which was held at the TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. - the home course for the PGA Tour's John Deere Classic.
