DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.-  The Bobcats traveled to 6th-ranked Embry-Riddle Saturday for what would prove to be an exciting contest.  STU handed the Eagles their first TSC loss of the season, winning 80-70.

STU gained an early 8-point advantage against Embry-Riddle, 13-5, following two made free-throws from Antonio Jones just five minutes into the game.  The Eagles would rally, however, and grab a lead of their own with seven to play before the break.  The Bobcats hung tough with Embry-Riddle and trailed by just 1 point heading into the locker room, 41-42.  Despite turning the ball over 10 times in the first period, compared to 3 from the Eagles, the Bobcats were kept alive by Preston Jackson's perfect 6-of-6 shooting for 14 points and 5 rebounds in just ten minutes of play.

The Bobcats regained the advantage within the second half's first minute and never let the Eagles lead again.  Embry-Riddle did manage to tie the game at 58 following two made free-throws from David Butler, but STU cushioned themselves with 3-pointers from Jones and solid shooting from the charity stripe (recording nearly 79 percent for the game).  The Bobcats ratched up their defense down the stretch and built the lead up to 10 in the game's closing seconds.  STU came out with their best win of the season, 80-70.

The turnover and rebounding battles were even at 16 and 32, respectively, but the Bobcats set themselves apart with strong shooting from the floor, recording 54 percent for the game (26-48).  Jones led all scorers with 22, while Jackson shot a perfect 7-of-7 for the game to tally 17.  Tracy Razz supported with 11 and Nana Antwi-Baafi provided 7 points and 5 rebounds off the bench.

STU improves to 7-10 (3-4 TSC) while Embry-Riddle falls to 17-4 (6-1 TSC). The importance of this win is nearly inexplicable as the Bobcats go to #10 Northwood Tuesday.  Northwood was upset by Warner over the weekend as well.
