POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. – Senior Eric Lorenzi and junior David Butler were both recognized by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for their accomplishments on the basketball court throughout the 2009-10 season, Tuesday following the conclusion of the 19th Annual NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship game.

Lorenzi, who was selected as one of three captains to lead the Eagles’ 2009-10 campaign, was tabbed as a second team All-American. Lorenzi closed out his final season wearing the Blue and Gold as the team’s leading scorer averaging 18.2 points per game. He started in each of the Eagles’ 36 games and averaged 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 steals per contest. A two-time Sun Conference Player of the Week, Lorenzi was also a first team All-Conference selection and closed out his three-year career with 1,616 career points and vaulted to No. 4 on the Eagles’ all-time rebounding list with 769.

Butler was selected as an honorable mention All-American and was named to the National Championship All-Tournament team after averaging 19.3 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks in Embry-Riddle’s three games in national tournament competition. Butler set new Embry-Riddle single-game and single-season block records with eight and 116, respectively and finished second in the nation in blocks per game (3.4) and total blocks (116). Butler, who was also a first team All-Sun Conference honoree, led the Eagles in rebounding (8.77 rpg) and double-doubles (9) and was second in scoring (16.1 ppg).

The Eagles captured The Sun Conference regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the quarterfinal round at the national championship before finishing the season at 30-6 overall.
