2010 Women’s Tennis All-Conference Team Announced

SAVANNAH, Ga. – Northwood senior Mikaela Seger was honored as the 2010 Sun Conference women’s tennis Player of the Year at The Sun Conference tournament banquet hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design at the Hampton Inn and Suites in downtown Savannah on Friday evening.

Seger closed out the regular season with a 9-5 overall singles record and a 9-5 mark in doubles play. She was also 5-1 against conference opponents in both doubles and singles competition.

The inaugural women’s tennis Champion of Character award was presented to junior Autumn Housefield from league newcomer Southeastern. Housefield volunteered 10 hours in the community while maintaining a 3.917 grade point average in English and Intercultural Studies with a minor journalism.

Embry-Riddle head coach Dave Paschal was tabbed as the Conference Coach of the Year. Now in his sixth season at the helm of ERAU’s women’s tennis program, Paschal guided the 2010 team to a share of the conference regular season title with a 5-1 league record.

Play in the four-team conference tournament gets underway at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Embry-Riddle will face St. Thomasl, while Northwood and SCAD will do battle. The tournament champion receives an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships in Mobile, Ala.
