RAPID CITY, S.D. – The Savannah College of Art and Design remains in 16th place after the second round of the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship Wednesday (May 26).
The Bees, who are ranked No. 12 in the NAIA, shot 336 on the par-72, 6,000-yard layout on the Meadowbrook Golf Course to stand at 666 after 36 holes. Five-time defending champion and No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City University shot 302 to move into the lead in the 25-team field with a score of 610. First-round leader and No. 4-ranked University of British Columbia trails the Stars by two strokes at 612 after carding a round of 311.
UBC’s Alyssa Human and Lubbock Christian University’s Anna Schopp, who each carded rounds of 76, hold the lead in the 128-player field with scores of 149 at the midway point of the 72-hole tournament, which runs through Friday (May 28), is being hosted by the Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau. The field will be cut to the top 17 teams and 40 individuals (including ties) after 54 holes.
Nikki Stewart remains the top golfer for the Bees, who are making their seventh consecutive appearance in the championship, through two rounds. Stewart registered a 77 and is tied for 23rd place at 157. Mary-Michael Burns is tied for 46th place at 162 after firing an 82 while Andrea Perez is tied for 84th after a 92. Amelie Mogard shot an 88 and is tied for 98th with a score of 177 while Lovisa Emanuelsson tallied an 89 and is tied for 107th place at 180.
