TOWSON, Md. – Savannah College of Art and Design’s Dominica Jordan has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III College Softball First Team.
The members of the College Sports Information Directors of America by districts selected the teams and the first-team members will now be considered for Academic All-America® honors. The District III College Division consists of all-non NCAA Division I colleges and universities in Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Virginia. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.30 cumulative grade point average and must be a starter or a significant reserve on her team.
Jordan, a 5-foot-5 senior catcher from Mission Viejo, Calif., has batted .296 (40-of-135) with four doubles, a home run and 24 RBI. In addition to her four stolen bases, she has a .370 slugging percentage to go along with her .345 on-base percentage. In the field, Jordan has only committed four errors in 295 total chances (.986 field percentage) in 2010.
Jordan is a career .331 hitter and has 106 hits, 12 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 71 RBI. The two-time all-conference performer holds the university record for career putouts with 811. The film and television major is has a cumulative grade point average of 3.56.
The Bees (32-15) returns to action SCAD will return to action Saturday (May 8) when they will compete in The Sun Conference Tournament at the Diamond Plex in Winter Haven, Fla. SCAD, which is the No. 3 seed, will face No. 2 seed Webber International University in a 4:30 p.m. first-round game of the four-team, double-elimination tournament.
