KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. — Johnson & Wales coasted to a 25-shot victory at the Sun Conference Men's Golf Championship on Tuesday at Crandon Park Golf Club.
The seventh-ranked Wildcats posted a team score of even-par 288 — their third straight round under 300 — to finish the 54-hole event at 868 and easily outpace runner-up USCB (893).
Johnson & Wales' Matt Morin carded a 1-under-par 71 in the final round to finish at 3-under 213 and won the individual title over Thomas' Stone Cowie with a birdie on the third playoff hole.
The ninth-ranked Sand Sharks had the best round of the day with a 284 to vault to second place ahead of No. 14 Webber International (905). Southeastern and No. 13 Northwood tied for fourth at 920, followed by No. 18 Thomas (927), St. Thomas (935), Warner (936), Embry-Riddle (947), SCAD Savannah (962) and Ave Maria (974).
Johnson & Wales earns an automatic berth into the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, which will be hosted by The Sun Conference from May 19-22 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
