Women's Tennis Honor Roll Announced
The Sun Conference released its 2019 women’s tennis honors at the annual conference tournament banquet, held by Coastal Georgia.
Regular season champion, Keiser placed seven of their players on the two all-conference teams including five on the first team. SCAD was close behind with four players including two on both teams.
The Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year were shared between SCAD’s, Priya Sukkanha and Keiser’s Anais Gabriel. Sukkanha is currently ranked No. 4 in the ITA after going 7-0 in conference and 10-1 overall out of the top singles spot. Gabriel is ranked seventh after going 7-0 in conference and 15-4 overall in the second spot.
Sarah Schaerer and Lorene Foerste of Keiser were named the Doubles Team of the Year after posting a 7-0 record in TSC matches. The duo is currently 11-4 overall on the year.
The Sun Conference Coach of the Year was awarded to Keiser’s Daniel Finn and Southeastern’s Drew Dickens. Finn earned the award for a third straight year after leading the Seahawks to back-to-back perfect seasons in conference play. Keiser has been ranked No. 2 in the coaches poll all season and is currently 16-4 overall on the year.
Dickens led the Fire to a single-season program record for victories, 16, with their three losses coming against the No. 2, 10, and 11 ranked teams in the NAIA. Southeastern is back in the tournament for the first time since 2017.
